Sue is the Director of Performance Physical Therapy at Athletes Performance and Core Performance. She has been a physical therapist with the Los Angeles Dodgers the past 4 years, and going forward will be serving in a consultant role. She has also been a speaker on the Perform Better Summit team for the past few years. Sue received her Physical Therapy degree from Daeman College in her hometown of Buffalo, New York. She continued her education by earning a Masters Degree in Human Movement Science with a concentration in Sports Medicine from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Sue has presented at both state and national level conferences in areas focusing on Pillar Strength, Integration of Physical Therapy and Performance Training, and Comprehensive Kinetic Chain Assessment and Rehabilitation.

Interview #2: January 18 - Ron Hruska, the director of the Postural Restoration Institute, will discuss the principles and philosophy behind his system, the importance of addressing natural structural asymmetries, how dysfunction in the major 'chains' of the body can result in poor alignment and ultimately pain and dysfunction, using his system in the rehab and performance settings, and more...

Ron is the Director of the Postural Restoration Institute in Lincoln, Nebraska. Ron has a strong interest in myokinematic and biomechanical influences on postural and peripheral adaptation patterns. His 26 years of clinical experience assists him with direct patient interventions based on specific examination and evaluation data that best reflects core stability, trunk symmetry and respiratory balance. He lectures extensively and consults regularly with physicians, physical therapists, researchers, and other health care providers across the United States and Internationally on patterned postural discord and his approach of restoring symmetry throughout the body. His reputation has led to consultations with collegiate and professional athletes from a variety of arenas, states and countries. Ron is the medical inventor of the Protonics® System. He is a graduate of the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Division of Physical Therapy. He currently is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists, American Academy of Orofacial Pain, American Academy of Craniofacial Pain, Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association and the American Physical Therapy Association. Ron serves as the Biomechanical Consultant to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln through the Division of Athletic Medicine.

Interview #3: January 25 - Dr. Mike Leahy is the inventor of Active Release Technique and will go in-depth on how he created the system and how it works for athletes and everyday patients alike. Mike will also discuss his method of evaluation, describe a few of his patented techniques, including the newer nerve entrapment techniques, and what he looks for in treating triathletes and golfers.

Dr. Leahy is the founder of Champion Health Associates and the respected inventor of Active Release Techniques®. He is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy and served as a fighter and test-pilot. Dr. Leahy graduated summa-cum laude and valedictorian of Los Angeles College of Chiropractic in 1984 and became a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP) in 1986. In 1985, Dr. Leahy began developing Active Release Techniques® in order to meet the needs of his patients more effectively. ART is so successful that he now teaches the technique to physicians of many disciplines, throughout the world. He has assisted aspiring, professional, and world-class athletes in a wide range of modes, including professional golfers, hockey, football, and National Team sports. He serves as the chiropractor/ART provider for the Denver Broncos and he has personally completed 39 Ironman races. In addition to serving athletes, Dr. Leahy discovered and published the Law of Repetitive Motion and the Cumulative Injury Cycle, which has helped redefine prevention and treatment of work-related injuries.

Interview #4: February 1 - Thomas Myers discusses his concept of 'Anatomy Trains' and his approach to soft tissue treatment, how well do self myofascial release techniques really work (i.e. foam rollers, stick, balls), his ideas on corrective exercise to restore mobility and stability, and gives some great examples of how certain muscle groups may have a much different role than what we all learned in school. Thomas Myers studied directly with Drs. Ida Rolf, Moshe Feldenkrais, and Buckminster Fuller. He has also studied less extensively with movement teachers Judith Aston, Emilie Conrad, and in the martial arts. His work is influenced by cranial, visceral, and intrinsic movement studies he made with European schools of osteopathy. An inveterate traveler, Tom has practiced integrative manual therapy for over 30 years in a variety of clinical and cultural settings, including 10 years in London, and traveling practices in Hamburg, Rome, Nairobi, and Sydney, as well as a dozen locales in the US. He is a member of the International Association of Structural Integrators (IASI). Author of "Anatomy Trains" (Elsevier 2001) and a set of supporting videos, Tom has also penned over 60 articles for trade magazines and journals on anatomy, soft tissue manipulation, and the social scourge of somatic alienation and loss of reliance on kinesthetic intelligence. A certified Touch-in-Parenting instructor, Tom retains a strong interest in peri-natal issues relating to movement. Living on the coast of Maine, Tom directs Kinesis, which conducts professional certification and continuing education courses worldwide.

Interview #5: February 8 - Brian Grasso gives us his take on the state of the 'Youth Conditioning' industry, physical education in this country, singe sport versus multiple sport athletes, and answers the question: "Are we making a difference?" Brian will also share his training philosophy on working with youth athletes, common movement deficiencies and injuries, plus some great ideas to incorporate into your training and rehab programs when working with this population.

Brian is considered one of the premier experts on youth athletic development in the world. Brian began his sport-training career as a Performance Coach to Olympic, professional and elite athletes. He has worked with several professional and Olympic athletes from a variety of sports, and has traveled extensively throughout North America and Europe as a Conditioning Consultant for both the Canadian and United States National Team athletes. Brian founded and currently serves as Chief Executive Officer for the International Youth Conditioning Association, which is an educational entity certifying Trainers and Coaches as Youth Conditioning Specialists (YCS) worldwide. An accomplished presenter, Brian provides educational seminars covering youth athletic development and training topics to sporting organizations throughout the world. The list of governing bodies Brian has presented to includes the National Coaching Education Program, the National Alliance for Youth Sports, the United States Figure Skating Association, the Illinois Olympic Development Program, Skate Canada, the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association and the Korean Aerobic Association among many others.

Interview #6: February 15 - Greg Roskopf is the creator of Muscle Activation Techniques and will go in-depth with his system, when is it appropriate to go after stability before mobility?, case studies highlighting specific techniques to combat common athletic injuries, plus how to integrate MAT into your training or rehab program.

Greg started his career in California as a strength coach for Fresno State from '85-'88, where he also received his Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology. While at Fresno State, he began to work with performance athletes. He started questioning why some athletes would breakdown, while others could work through fatigue and achieve higher performance levels. He knew there had to be a fundamental explanation. He has developed a unique approach for systematically identifying and treating muscular imbalances through noninvasive manual therapy. Because MAT is bio-mechanically based and designed to treat anyone affected with muscle weakness (and its associated pain) regardless of the cause, the MAT treatment practices are gaining recognition throughout all facets of the sports, health and fitness industries. Greg has worked as a biomechanical consultant for various professional sports teams including: the Denver Broncos, the Utah Jazz, and the Denver Nuggets .

Interview #7: February 22 - Brian Mulligan is the master of joint mobilization, and will talk about his philosophy of restoring joint mobility through "mobilization with movement", "NAGS", "SNAGS", and more. Brian will also shed light on his evaluation process and how he assess quality of movement, when does he use soft tissue techniques verses joint mobilization, self mobilizations for athletes, trainers, and the weekend warrior - where do they tend to need them most, and finally some great taping techniques to hold mobilizations beyond the clinic. (The taping talk alone should be worth the price of admission. Oh yeah, this is free!) 
Brian Mulligan FNZSP (Hon), Diploma M.T. Brian Mulligan is a registered Physical Therapist who lives in Wellington, New Zealand. He has been on the International Lecture Circuit since 1972, teaching in the USA and a host of other countries. He is an honorary teaching fellow of Otago University. Brian's special interest has always been in manual therapy since being introduced to the field by Stanley Paris in the early 1960s. He acknowledges as his mentor Freddy Kaltenborn but has also found invaluable the contributions to his knowledge from James Cyriax, Geoff Maitland, Robin McKenzie and Robert Elvey. Brian's favourite quote has always been Louis Pasteur's: "In the field of discovery chance only favours the prepared mind". Manual therapists are fortunate that by chance and his prepared mind Brian discovered and developed a new field within manual therapy he called "Mobilisations with Movement" (MWMs). This was in 1985 and two years later under similar circumstances he discovered "Pain Release Phenomenon" techniques (PRPs). Brian Mulligan wrote his first textbook on his techniques in 1999 and it is now in its 6th edition: "Manual Therapy: NAGS, SNAGS, MWMS, etc". He wrote another book in 2003 titled "Self Treatments for the Back, Neck and Limbs" for the public.

Interview #8: March 1 - Dr. Warren Hammer is one of the best when it comes to addressing soft tissue limitations. Dr. Hammer is a Graston Technique instructor and will discuss the philosophy behind and benefits of instrumented soft tissue techniques. He is also bringing 'Fascial Manipulation' courses to the United States so he will cover his work with the Stecco family in Italy, and what is different about the Fascial Manipulation system. Dr. Hammer will also point out some key areas to address that you may not normally consider when working with athletes. 
Dr. Warren Hammer DC, MS, DABCO Dr. Hammer has been in practice in Norwalk, Connecticut, USA for the past 50 years. He has studied numerous soft-tissue methods and applies them to the practice of chiropractic. He has lectured nationally and internationally and recently completed his third edition of Functional Soft-Tissue Examination and Treatment by Manual Methods available from Jones & Bartlett publishers. He writes a regular column for Dynamic Chiropractic and has written articles for prominent journals such as Chiropractic Sports Medicine, the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics, Chiropractic Technique and the Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies. Dr. Hammer has been a consultant and instructor for Graston Technique® since 2001. Dr. Hammer plans to introduce Fascial Manipulation to the U.S. in 2011.

Interview #9: March 8 - Dan John will discuss his training philosophy and some of the big life lessons he has learned including dispelling a few 'myths' along the way. Dan will also cover his approaches to physical education and working with teams, injury prevention, and how he has been incorporating kettlebells with these larger groups. He also gives his take on rehab and what he wishes clinicians knew more about when it comes to returning athletes to play or training. 
Dan John Dan John picked up a barbell for the first time in about 1966 when his brothers bought a set from a local department store. It was the first time the world made sense to him and he has been lifting and throwing things since that day. And he thought he knew it all until he ventured out to the RKC training in San Jose. Newly humbled, he has begun a new journey of learning and lifting. Recently, Pavel Tsatsouline promoted Dan to the rank of Senior RKC Instructor. Dan John has been teaching and coaching for well over thirty years. He is the former Strength Coach and Head Track and Field Coach at Juan Diego Catholic High School in Draper, Utah. He remains a full-time on-line religious studies instructor for Columbia College of Missouri and contributing writer to Men's Health. Dan has Masters degrees in history and in religious education, as well as intensive work at the American University in Cairo, University of Haifa, and Cornell. Dan has written articles for "Catechetical Update" and "Utah Historical Quarterly", as well as being a columnist for the "Intermountain Catholic". Dan was also a Fulbright Scholar in 1985.
In addition, Dan writes articles for a variety of strength magazines and publishes a little newsletter called "Get Up", which registers up to a quarter of a million hits a month. Interview #10: March 15 - Gray Cook will be wrapping things up this year instead of leading off, and we're going to have some fun with this one. Gray Cook has spent his entire career refining and developing functional evaluation exercise techniques.
