The Functional Movement Symposium
I wanted to let everyone know The Functional Movement Symposium is right around the corner, November 4-5 in Chicago. Only a couple more days to get the discounted rate. This is an overview of Functional Movement Systems (as many of you know it from the Movement Book) so much of the discussion will be integrating the FMS, SFMA, and Y Balance test into your practice or training setting. Should be a great time and hopefully I will see some of you there.
Here is the basic rundown on the course from Gray Cook:
Functional Movement Systems is a collection of screening, testing, and assessment methods. Methods that promote communication and clear understanding about how exercise and rehabilitation attempts can produce practical function, or fall short. They create prospective that provides a unique baseline and forces the user to cultivate a more comprehensive understanding of the developmental processes that create all movement patterns. A perspective that will change the way you look at corrective exercise and measure functional improvements. In this one of a kind experience you will see the originators of these methods demonstrate how each method enhances the effectiveness of the other, and works together - in a system - The Functional Movement Systems.
