How I Workout After Basketball

I am often asked what my workouts look like in the gym. So today I figured I would give you a glimpse into what a recent training session looked like.

Keep in mind that a lot of what I do is to stay athletic and play Basketball, because that is what my goals are and I enjoy to do!

Typically I play basketball once a week.

I've found that timing a squat session the day following Basketball has helped my body recover and feel more ready for the next time that I play Basketball.

During this workout the following set up took place:

1) Warm up and movement prep

2) Squat sub maximally building up to 3 x 3 reps at around 80% of my 3 RM

2b) Concentric Emphasis Jump From a Box 3 x 3

3) Pistol Squats - assisted with heel lift and UE. 3 x 8 reps at moderate intensity

4a) Bar Hangs 3 x 30"

4b) Wall Sits with Knee Forward 3 x 30"

While this particular day was certainly sub maximal, I also have a higher training frequency then most at 4x per week. But most of the time they remain short and sweet! Also my more max effort strength days tend to be with deadlift as my body tends to feel more ready and better emphasizing my lifts in that particular fashion.
