How To Fix Flat Feet

This is very important subject which I feel needs to be discussed more in the rehabilitation and performance worlds.

That is the idea of proprioception training and "Flat Feet".

The foot really has just 3 purposes: 1) force absorption 2) Initiating propulsion 3) Accommodation to the ground

If we take these three components into account, then we understand that the foot must flatten to absorb force! Meaning flat feet and pronation are not a problem! Pronation is necessary to absorb forces. The problem is when proprioception is done poorly or when the foot can not re-supinate.

Furthermore, proprioception training does not involve standing on a foam pad or a bosu ball. An accommodating foot is a foot that can alter position based upon the task at hand. Which could be accomidating to unlevel surfaces, or performing gait/running which involves supination then pronation and finally re-supination.
